Al Ain, United Arab Emirates, April 2019 – In its transition into becoming a comprehensive research -intensive institution, the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has taken a formative step. The first university to be founded in the UAE back in 1976 and one of three federal universities for higher learning in the nation that currently enrolls approximately 14,000 Emirati and international students, UAEU has selected OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services to bring added value to students and faculty.
Designed to meet the complex and evolving needs of libraries, WorldShare Management Services (WMS) is an advanced library services platform. It is a cloud-based library services platform with WorldCat as its foundation, which allows library staff to draw on the collaborative data and work of libraries worldwide for more efficient workflows. WMS also enables staff to better manage resources in all formats and to provide their users with improved access to the library’s electronic resources and the world’s knowledge.
In her quote to OCLC, Janette Wright, Dean of Libraries, United Arab Emirates University said - “The selection of WMS as a key element of the libraries’ systems infrastructure was driven by the need for innovative and collaborative approaches to integrated discovery tools, content management and access. Moving to WMS also provides us the opportunity to join a global user community supported by a dedicated team of researchers looking to the future of knowledge creation and management, and digital scholarship.”
